On stage, the play delivers a delightful exploration of fundamental human emotion,
offering the Bard’s most charming reflection on the nature of love.
Across all times and cultures, the greatest love stories always come with a few twists and turns!
As K-Culture Captivates the World, Korean Theater Takes the Spotlight!
Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, a tender ode to love and longing,
returns as a bold new K-Theater production—reimagined through the lively and inventive vision of director Im Do wan.
Set in a coastal village during the Joseon era,
this playful adaptation follows four entangled lovers through a whirlwind of romantic mischief and mistaken identity.
The production enchants with exuberant performances and spirited songs.
Adding to its charm is choreography by Kim Jae-seung—renowned judge on Stage Fighter—whose dynamic, Korean-inspired movement brings a fresh, captivating energy to the stage.
Synopsis
Twin siblings Shin-ae and Mi-eon are separated by a violent storm at sea.
Washed ashore on the quiet coast of Nongmeori,
Shin-ae disguises herself as a man for safety and assumes the name Man-deuk.
She soon enters the service of Oh Sa-ryong, a young nobleman who has long pined for Seo-rin,
a noblewoman from the same village. Oh Sa-ryong sends Man-deuk to deliver his heartfelt message,
but things take an unexpected turn when Seo-rin falls for Man-deuk at first sight—completely unaware of her true identity. Meanwhile, Mi-eon also arrives in Nongmeori,
triggering a chain of confusion and comic mishaps as the villagers begin to mistake the twins for one another.
TWELFTH NIGHT aims to offer relaxed performances in a yeolin gaekseok setting,
enabling diverse audiences to enjoy the show with broader perspectives in a more relaxed environment.
During these performances, noise and movement in the auditorium are permitted with minimal restrictions,
and attendees are welcome to re-enter if they need a break from the performance.
