Changgeuk Shimcheong boasts the deeply rooted energy and power of authentic Korean sound

Since the inception of National Repertory Season, National Changgeuk Company of Korea has taken the challenge of 'modernizing five pansoris’ and worked on Sugung-ga, Chunhyang-ga, Jeokbyeok-ga and Heungbo-ga. The last stage of this journey is Shimcheong-ga. Shimcheong-ga is considered to be the most brilliant pansori artistically, with a lot of tragic and emotional scenes. It is also difficult to perform the entire piece without outstanding skills and experience in pansori.
National Changgeuk Company of Korea, with the finest traditional singers of our time, is working with Jinchaek Sohn, a director who is exceptionally strong in dramatic narratives that make audience laugh and cry, in order to bring a deeply moving experience of authentic pansori changgeuk. Keeping and highlighting the unique flavors of pansori narrations, the piece will reveal the true essence of the members of the company.
