This Year’s Unquestionable Finest Masterpiece!
- Commentary on the Prizes for Best Production, Best Playwright and Best New Director at the 54th Dong-A Theater Award

The much anticipated masterpiece, The Visitors, has returned after sweeping up a number of major theatrical awards last year. Ko Yeon-ock, the playwright exquisitely blends a parents-homicide, committed by their very own child, with a fantastical world and delve into the family tragedy with great taste, but with great depth. With the wonderfully odd visitors invited by the boy seeking for faint hope, the unpardonable family starts a journey to be ordinary once again.

Synopsis

The play portrays a boy who still lives with his parents after murdering them. With this setting established, he invites the visitors he runs into in the street: an abandoned stray cat, a statue standing in front of an elementary school, and the owner of a collapsed grave. A variety of stories unfold before the parents, who still find having guests awkward.

Written by Ko Yeon-ock
Incisively digging into human minds, the playwright looks at the predicament and reality of our times. Sometimes with the cruel portrait of today that would appear on the news and sometimes with the allegorically illustrated myths, she examines our society in depth. Some of the stories and themes sit heavy on the heart, but she delivers a narrative with clever and witty lines that has been well loved and received by both the audience and the critics.

Director Kim Jeong
